We recently started the latest cohort in our Executive MBA (EMBA) in Austria program. 40 students from some of the largest Austrian companies and international companies' subsidiaries in Austria such as Accenture, AVL, Coca Cola, Hilti, Infineon, KTM, Miba, Roche, Silhouette, Strabag, Swarovski, Umdasch, and Wuestenrot joined the program that has now more than 500 graduates. In recognition of their outstanding accuracy in forecasting United States’ home prices, California Lutheran University economists Matthew Fienup, Ph.D., and Dan Hamilton, Ph.D., received the 2024 Crystal Ball Award for the Fannie Mae Home Price Expectations Survey. This is the fourth time in six years that Fienup and Hamilton, both of Cal Lutheran’s Center for Economic Research and Forecasting (CERF), have received the prestigious national award. On February 20, our Center for Economic Research and Forecasting (CERF) held its 2025 Annual Ventura County Economic Forecast (see photos below). More than 300 guests joined us at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza / Scherr Forum to hear the latest forecast from CERF Executive Director Matthew Fienup. While the economic futures for the US, California, and especially Ventura County are not the most promising, the delivery was perfect, and there was a lot of positive energy in the room to utilize the power of the community to address the challenges ahead. Or, in the words of guest keynote, Anthony Bradley (Acton Institute) - let's work towards human flourishing, paying it forward, and empowerment!
